Everything Is Rigged: The Biggest Price-Fixing Scandal Ever
The Scam Wall Street Learned From the Mafia
Why? Because Libor already affects the prices of interest-rate swaps, making this a manipulation-on-manipulation situation. If the allegations prove to be right, that will mean that swap customers have been paying for two different layers of price-fixing corruption. If you can imagine paying 20 bucks for a crappy PB&J because some evil cabal of agribusiness companies colluded to fix the prices of both peanuts and peanut butter, you come close to grasping the lunacy of financial markets where both interest rates and interest-rate swaps are being manipulated at the same time, often by the same banks.
"It's a double conspiracy," says an amazed Michael Greenberger, a former director of the trading and markets division at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and now a professor at the University of Maryland. "It's the height of criminality."
Here in Maryland the Maryland Assembly and Governor O'Malley just passed legislation that sets the stage for Parent Trigger. This is a Michelle Rhee/Bill Gates charter school privatizing scheme. We have Baltimore already captured by this charter scheme because of the presence of Johns Hopkins University.....the Wall Street representative in Maryland. We just saw Prince George's County voted by this same Maryland Assembly with O'Malley again signing into law the centralization of that school board to the County Executive who, like Mayor Rawlings-Blake then hands the school board off to the Governor. You see the mechanism they are using to keep the people's voice from the process? You also see why O'Malley has been tapped for national office. HE IS A TEAM PLAYER WITH WALL STREET!!! Keep in mind that Parent Trigger, charters, and for-profit education is coming from Baltimore's very own Nancy Pelosi's territory in California.
Rita Solnet, PAA founding member and leader of PAA Florida affiliate Testing is not Teaching, reports that she and others have helped expose Parent Revolution’s carpetbagging. PR (an apt acronym) is a California group funded by Gates, Walton and the usual gang to promote charter schools and the parent trigger. No Florida parent group has come out in favor of the parent trigger, but Parent Revolution’s astroturfers have staged a full-court press in the state legislature, where the bill passed the house last week.
Here’s what happened next, according to the Tampa Bay Times:
TALLAHASSEE — For weeks, it seemed, few parents in Florida supported the so-called parent trigger bill.
And then, a video began circulating in the Capitol.
The video, featuring South Florida moms praising the legislation, was attributed to a mysterious grass roots group known as the Sunshine Parents. But it was actually produced by Parent Revolution, the California-based advocacy group that has been using its considerable resources and political heft to promote the legislation nationwide, Parent Revolution confirmed Friday.
Doubt has also been cast on a petition allegedly signed by more than 1,200 supporters of the parent trigger proposal. Three people whose names appear on the petition told the Times/Herald they never signed it.
“It’s sad that they are resorting to these tactics,” said Rita Solnet, a Palm Beach County mother whose nonprofit organization Parents Across America opposes the parent trigger bill. “But it puts it all in perspective. It’s people from outside Florida and outside our schools who support this bill. It’s not the real parents.”
Parent trigger (SB 862) hits the Senate floor Monday.
Great work, Rita! Look for more about PR’s fiasco in Florida in the coming days.
CAMERAS IN THE CLASSROOM IS ONLY ABOUT INTIMIDATION.....THERE WILL BE NO TIME TO SIT AND REVIEW VIDEOTAPE AS TEACHERS CAN BARELY KEEP CURRENT WITH LESSON PLANS, CLASSROOM TEACHING, AND STUDENT DATA, GRADING, AND CALLS TO PARENTS FOR EXAMPLE!!!! The reason you know that the end result will not be for good is that classroom funding and teacher resources are falling. Having more presence in the classroom of aides for example would allow for time to sit and review. We are seeing teacher's work periods being taken away so
If you listened to the Public Radio International piece about how Israel uses surveillance to keep the Palestinians in the West Bank on edge I think you will see the purpose for Bill Gates and his privatizers. When will people be able to observe all these hours of classroom tapes? It will only be used when there is a desire to document someone out.
We are watching as what we learn becomes fully scripted by the 1% and now they are developing systems to provide canned lessons and with cameras, making sure that the only education given is what is scripted. THIS IS AUTOCRACY FOLKS. EDUCATION IS WHAT MAKES FOR FREE AND ACTIVE DEMOCRACY AND THEY ARE WORKING TO CAPTURE THAT. THIRD WAY CORPORATE DEMOCRATS = THIRD WORLD
Bill Gates's School Panopticon
By Walt Gardner on April 26, 2013 7:06 AM The latest effort by Bill Gates to reform schools involves spending $5 billion on video cameras in every classroom ("Bill Gates Wants America to Spend $5B for Video Cameras in Every Classroom," Education News, Apr. 24). Reformers like the idea because they say it will prevent teachers from offering excuses for the failure of their students to learn. Of course, the cameras will also provide evidence of student misbehavior, which reformers ignore in their criticism of teachers. But I digress.
My main objection to the Gates plan is that it is reminiscent of Jeremy Bentham's Panopticon of the late 18th century. Bentham argued that when those in institutions knew they were being observed at all times, the results would be beneficial. Although the Panopticon was designed originally for prisons, Bentham also believed it was applicable to other settings, including schools. If schools exist primarily to maintain control over students, then I suppose a case can be made for video cameras in every classroom. After all, students don't want their disruptive behavior caught on camera any more than blackjack dealers want to be taped pocketing chips.
But the ostensible reason for the cameras is to improve instruction. It's here that I question the strategy. I believe that the best way to help teachers become more effective is through peer review. Will the tapes be reviewed by those certified in the same subject being taught? Will they be used as the basis for supportive intervention? Will teachers be permitted to choose which lessons will be reviewed for evaluation purposes? These are important questions that deserve answers because they have direct implications for educational quality. I get the distinct feeling, however, that filming teachers is really intended for punitive purposes.
Below we see the typical pundit proclaiming to be 'progressive' shouting out how the republicans are to blame.....never mentioning the Third Way corporate education reform. You know you are listening to Third Way neo-liberalism if this is the case......this is not progressive it is regressive. Whether MSNBC, NPR, or this radio host we are bombarded by Third Way political pundits who simply repeat what the politicians say. They will never tell you Obama's education reform is about privatizing public education.
What is wrong with this article? It looks at republicans as the source of anti-intellectualism. What is education reform? It is ending the Age of Enlightenment' that made peasants citizens through strong public education and taking us back to the Age of the Renaissance' when Merchants ruled and peasants only had access to trade schools. Do you see the tie to this privatization of public education? These 1% are saying 90% of education is wasted on 90% of people.
Who is leading this? THIRD WAY CORPORATE DEMOCRATS CLINTON AND OBAMA WORKING WITH BILL GATES AND WALL STREET.

Radio host Papantonio: Anti-intellectualism ‘has become almost epidemic in America’ By Arturo Garcia
Friday, April 26, 2013 19:43 EDT
Progressive radio host Mike Papantonio sang the praises of author Susan Jacoby on his radio show on Friday, echoing the theme of her 2008 book The Age of American Unreason in saying, “Anti-intellectualism and anti-rationalism have become almost epidemic in America,” and saying the only hesitation one should have in reading the book is how scary her findings are.
“Chances are, if you are one of those corporate media-following bone heads who still believe that weapons of mass destruction were found in Iraq, or Saddam Hussein blew up the Twin Towers, or Obama is a secret Muslim, or Obama wants to take your guns, or Obama has FEMA prison camps set up for Teabag Republicans, then search no further,” said Papantonio, who is also president of the National Trial Lawyer Association. “You truly are the undereducated, child-like, impressionable, irrational, dangerous cog in America’s political system that puts Democracy most at risk.”
In her book, Papantonio explained, Jacobs found that more than 40 percent of Americans under the age of 44 did not read a single book over the course of the previous year. And their concentration had deteriorated to the point that politicians needed to condense their messages into 8-second soundbytes to grab their attention, leading her to conclude that the country was now “ill with a powerful mutant strain of intertwined ignorance, anti-rationalism and anti-intellectualism,” compounded by schools’ increased emphasis on passing standardized tests instead of comprehensive education on subjects like civics and humanities.
“If the Susan Jacobys are right and anti-intellectualism is a trend in America, then spoon-feeding our children with facts and figures designed merely to pass a standardized test will never prepare them to preserve democracy,” Papantonio said. “The truth is when we firmly grasp timeless themes that can be found in novels like The Grapes of Wrath, Elmer Gantry or 1984, we are on our way to better protecting democracy against the Mitch McConnels, the Rush Limbaughs, the Rand Pauls, Peter Kings, Louie Gohmerts, the Bill O’Reillys and Glenn Becks who infect the process of intelligent conservative rational thinking.”

Please join Parents Across America as we fight back this education privatizing push from Michelle Rhee, Arne Duncan, and Bill Gates with Obama at the lead. WE DO NOT WANT OUR SCHOOLS HANDED TO CORPORATE INTERESTS!!
Parents Across America (PAA) is a non-partisan, non-profit grassroots organization that connects parents and activists from across the U.S. to share ideas and work together to improve our nation’s public schools.
PAA is committed to bringing the voice of public school parents – and common sense – to local, state, and national education debates. Check out what we believe works – and what doesn’t work – in education. Our blueprint to reform the federal No Child Left Behind Act (now called he Elementary and Secondary Education Act or ESEA) is here.
Parents Across America was founded by a group of activist parents who recognized the need to collaborate for positive change, rather than remain isolated in local battles. Since the top-down forces that are imposing their will on our schools have become national in scope, we need to be as well. We pool our resources, share information, and coordinate activities wherever possible.
Up to now, the parent perspective has been almost entirely missing in the policy proposals put forward by the U.S. Department of Education and being imposed in many school districts across the nation. To this day, many of these practices, focused on increased privatization and high-stakes testing, are not based on solid research and are not supported by most parents. In contrast, we advocate for proven, progressive measures, such as reducing class size and increasing parent involvement.
