- RESIST the TPP -- Stop Fast Track Training Camp and Days of Action!
- Public · By Cassidy Regan
- Calling all who are concerned about corporate power, the environment, climate change, worker rights, education, internet freedom, predatory banks, health, food safety, fair trade, clean air and water, militarism and wars...Our resistance to the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) unites us in solidarity to stop transnational corporations from profiting with impunity.
The TPP would reverse decades of work for protection of the environment and people. The White House is trying to pass this agreement in secrecy and without Congressional oversight using Fast track.
Fast track would keep the TPP classified, preventing us from knowing the extent of harm being done to us. It would prevent Congress from holding hearings to debate the effect of the TPP on our laws, our health, and the environment.
Take action for trade that puts people and the planet over profits! Register for the Training Camp or Days of Action today at http://www.flushthetpp.org/stop-fast-track-training-camp-and-days-of-action/.
Together, we can stop Fast track -- and stop the TPP!
SCHEDULE
Sept. 21 and 22: Stop Fast Track Action Camp with Bill Moyer of the Backbone Campaign and Steph Cascadia of Rising Tide, where we’ll work together on strategy for direct action and developing ways to convey our message creatively.
Sept. 23 and 24: Two days of creative actions to bring attention to the TPP using Washington, DC as our stage.
Keeping up the pressure after the camp and days of action – Sept. 25 and onward: Join the Fair Trade Brigade, who'll be in the halls of Congress until the vote on Fast Track to shine a light on the secret TPP and hold policymakers accountable. Materials and training will be provided. - ________________________________________

This disgraceful bow to the banking industry, eagerly signed into law by Bill Clinton in 1999, bears a major share of responsibility for the current banking crisis
President Bill Clinton’s signing statement for the GLBA summarized the established argument for repealing Glass-Steagall Section’s 20 and 32 in stating that this change, and the GLBA’s amendments to the Bank Holding Company Act, would “enhance the stability of our financial services system” by permitting financial firms to “diversify their product offerings and thus their sources of revenue” and make financial firms “better equipped to compete in global financial markets.”[352]
